The Dark and the Light: Season 2 Episode 5

They met at Cafe Usual and sat down. Jacob stared dreamily at her. She felt it was weird for her Jakey, like a brother to her, to be doing this, as if he was an anonymous lover. As she turned to the waiter, he dropped his notebook, and Emma’s jaw fell. They stared at each other in disbelief for a full minute. There was full silence. Emma stood up and grabbed him tightly and kissed him. She screamed,


“JAMES! YOU-YOU’RE HERE!! YOU’RE ALIVE!”


A soft kiss sat on his cheek.


“Emma? How-but-how?”


Another kiss danced on his face, and he was enveloped in a hug.


“Hey! Missed me?”


They turned to face a scowling Jacob, with his face hidden


“Oh… Uh, James… ya, um, he’s m-my b-boyfriend?”


“WHAT?!?! You re-replaced me?WHO IS THAT JERK?!”


He lunged at Jacob, but he pushed him away.


“Whoa dude, looks like I’m too handsome. Your girl is pretty bro. Sorry for stealing her… She’s mine now!”


“Wait! No-James! But I love you-”


“NO! How could you? Dude, I LITERALLY ALMOST DIED FOR YOU AND…”


He glared at Jacob.


“You replace me… WITH THE NEXT IDIOTIC JERK THAT COMES ALONG?!?! HOW LONG HAVE YOU TWO BEEN DATING?”


“Oh James… I’m so so sorry”


She was crying now.


“No, no I’m sorry. Sorry I EVER loved you!”


“James! Sweetie! Don’t-”


“Don’t you SWEETIE me! That’s for your new BOYFRIEND! Whoever he is, I hope at least he’s a good person if you love him. I SHOULD NEVER HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH A STUPID DARK IDIOT!”

James stormed off. Jacob turned back to Emma and smiled. She was still sobbing. She got up slowly and whispered,


“This was a mistake.”


“EMMA! WAIT!”


She raced away, his words replaying in her head and tears rolling down her cheeks.
