He sat on her bean bag chair. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. Emma sat up and watched him for a while, then asked,


“So, Jake, what’s up nowadays?”


“ Well, you know, genie for hire!”


Emma snorted


“What?”


“No-nothing! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Genie for hire?!?!”


Emma kept laughing. Jacob smiled. He loved how her face lit up when she laughed. He felt his body get up and move over to Emma and caress her cheek. What was he doing?


“Jacob, what-”


Without warning, he kissed Emma’s lips.


“”Jacob?!?!?! Wha-what? WHY DID YOU JUST-”


She touched her lips, and gasped.


“D-did we j-just…”


“Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry! I-I didn’t mean to..”


“N-no, it-it’s fine-”


“I-I should go”


“Yeah.”


As Jacob left, Emma wondered why she hadn’t been disgusted by the kiss. She was still recovering from the loss of James, right?


James blinked. He had washed up on the beach. He remembered Emma, and frantically searched the beach. When he lost hope, he fell to his knees and wailed, thinking she was dead.
