The Dark and The Light: Season 1 Episode 7

" James! Put down that beastly creature! Or better, punch her to the ground!" James' dad yelled until his mom glared at him. "GET AWAY FROM MY BABY!!!!" said Emma's mom and then kicked James in his stomach. James let go of Emma, sad to let her go. Emma froze. Her smile faded. "Mother, you don't get it. We... well, we.." She turned and faced James, and he held her hands in his. They looked towards their parents, and at each other. James thought she look especially pretty today in her pink frilly dress and black lips painted red. Emma just stared at his deep blue eyes. Their parents were shocked and horrified at the strange romance. Emma's mom and James' dad grabbed their children and ripped them away from each other's arms, ignoring the protest. Emma started to cry out of frustration, because her heart had been broken. Emma's mom told her that she fully supported their love, but it was forbidden. Emma called James on her phone.

" Hello?" " James, we need to talk. Are you busy?" " I'm always free for you, Emma." " Aww... You're so sweet! So what will we do? The law won't let us be... well, us!" " I know. Wait! We could... no, never mind." " No, tell me!" " Fine. It's a cliche, but maybe we could..." " No...James... you don't mean..." " We can't be together otherwise, Emma. I love you, and you love me. The law says we can't be together, but we can if we have our Choosings revoked. I know a guy. We could be usuals, and nothing could keep you from me. " " But we would have no power, no special qualities, no-" " Oh, Emma, you're special to me in ways even I can't describe. Who cares what they all say? You in my arms, me in yours. That's all that matters. Please think about it?" "Ok. Good night! I love you, James." James smiled to himself and mouthed the word Yes! with a fist pump " I love you too, Emma. Have a good rest, and I'll call you in the morning."

James hung up and fell back on his bed with a lovesick sigh " Oh, Emma." . Emma cut the phone and squealed "EEEEEEEEEE!!! He LOVES me!!! EEEEEEEK!!!" and giggled.

What Emma and James didn't know was that their parents had alerted the government after the Cafe Usual mishap, Emma did not have her mom's support, and their romantic call had been tracked and recorded. And Mr. Polti, or as he was better known, King Polti, was not pleased.
